TRANSIENT ARCHES

North Somerset, December 2nd 2024

This week’s session at a hotel in North Somerset began with a backdrop of sun and ended with dark skies and sunshine, lending us two bright, strong rainbows in between, the end of which was clearly seen in a neighbouring field. Over the course of The Community Table today, we were joined by a steady stream of people all building with different purposes: building upwards, building a solid space, building to fall and rebuild and building to create space for thoughts of friends.

Two siblings worked side by side building up with bricks and blocks from different sets, stretching possibilities as they reached higher and higher, while across the table another built a room, pointing the bricks with such focus and care, making a little arch over the doorway and finishing off the roof with an architectural postcard. In between, the table was populated with little animals, some made by hand by a person who had attended last week’s drop-in at Bristol Hospitality Network, inspiring a new person to our table to form shapes of animals and people.

Several others came and went, wanting to look at what was on the table and to explore possibilities through seeing and holding materials, landing briefly or staying a little longer and opening up possibilities to return next time.
